German Cockroaches FAQ
What: German Cockroaches are one of the most bothersome pests we come across here at Beeline Pest Control. The are often called “baby roaches” because of their small size. Full grown German roaches reach only up to 1.5 centimeters and are brown in color. German roaches do not fly, and are generally nocturnal. With a quick breeding time, an infestation can reach the thousands within a a few weeks if unchecked. Within days of fertilization roaches will lay their eggs. They can lay up to 50 eggs at a time and each roach can live as long as 6-9 Months. So don’t let these guys hang around!
Where/Why: German Roaches are found in warm climates, ideally in the high 80s to 90s. So they love San Antonio kitchens! Because German Roaches are omnivores, they tend to be found in kitchens and bathrooms. This is because not only do both the kitchen and bathrooms provide roaches with a water source but a food source. German roaches are looking for food scraps, pet food and fibrous items. They’ll even eat soap, glue, book bindings or food residue off human skin! Fatty foods and residues are a German Roach’s favorite, so keeping a tidy kitchen is the best way to keep them out. They also love dark, confined spaces and will hide behind appliances and in the cracks of rooms. This makes them extra difficult to get rid of without Beeline Pest Control because even a few eggs left behind is enough to repopulate a colony.
